![]() (and in the video's comment thread, people have said it worked with Windows 8, 10, 7. Windows 10 connecting to apple airport printer says Apple changed the port they use from 9100 to 9101 and the thread also refers to this 2013 video, Windows Printing For Apple AirPort Extreme without Bonjour Wireless wifi. ![]() And now crazy things are start happening. Ive changed in printers options 'File Sharing' from WiFi to USB. Here’s what answers I’ve found thru web searches and will update this blog post with what works and what doesn’t, after I try them:Īirport Extreme Printing via Windows 8.1 and Windows RT – has detailed instructions So I have 2nd generation AirPort Express on latest firmware - I am able to AirPlay from iPhone to any speakers but unable to AirPrint to my Epson Stylus SX 435 which has USB port (and WiFi - but I want AirPrint). Haven’t yet figured out how to print from the Windows 10 laptop. I’m able to print from other Mac’s using the wifi network, including an iMac 27″, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro. neither your Mac nor any other device on the network is using AirPrint.Looking for a way to print wirelessly over wifi from a Windows 10 laptop to an Airport Extreme (version 7.7.8) base station with a USB printer connected. Since Apple never included AirPrint App to support a non-airprint printer. Other manufacturers have managed this marvel. Apple never included AirPrint in the airport routers. The reason AirPrint does not work is the Express is NOT an AirPrint device. It is an Airplay device and serves the network. The reason airplay works is that is a function of the Express. Download the AirPort Utility from Apple's website (link in Resources). It is a Print Server where the drivers must be used on your computer or device. the Express is NOT an AirPrint Print Server. There is no way you can AirPrint to a printer that does not support it. The Mac is not using AirPrint to the Epson printer. On the back of the Apple AirPort Router Express is a USB port thats made for your printer. If AirPrint would not work from my MacBook (with my Epson + AirPort Express) I would not do big deal because of this - but it WORKS. Thus, the logical solution for a non-AirPrint SX435 seems to be either a third-party app on your computer, as Bob Timmons suggested, or Epson's iPrint app on the iPhone. * AirPrint works with Wi-Fi or wired network connections. AirPrint devices connected to the USB port of an Apple AirPort Base Station or AirPort Time Capsule, or to your computer using Bluetooth connection, can’t use AirPrint.Ī totally different and special matter is that a few USB devices apparently are supported in connection with Mac computers (see USB-only devices in the About AirPrint article). Unfortunately, the Epson Stylus SX435 is not an AirPrint printer.Įven if the Stylus SX435 had been an AirPrint printer, it looks like a note in the article Use AirPrint to print from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support would have ruled out AirPrint via a USB connection to an AirPort base station: The following article contains a list of AirPrint-enabled printers. AirPrint is a technology that does not require downloading and installing drivers.
