![]() ![]() You got your basic Unity world to move in, though grid based, but Everything else is just as in RMMV, no other changes necessary. It is just that the perspective is 3d first person rather than 2D up above. Think Stonekeep only with separate battle screen. Then I add Unite event system, but leave out the world display.Īlso, I keep the database and battle screen, but I use unity's UI to devise my own (RPG Maker's UI leaves a lot to be desired.)īasically, the game wouldn't be full 3D, more like grid-based dungeon crawler so everything in the RPG maker works perfectly. Say, I create a first-person 3D walking simulator. However, Ive run into serious difficulties with this approach, mainly performance issues and also the weird ways of. Basically, I want to do a 'western style' retro RPG, like old Bards Tale, Wizardry, Might&Magic and so on games. Generally, I am quite experienced with programming but I don't have much direct experience with Unity and how it works, especially regarding add-ons. Ive been working for some time on a RPG Maker MV game using MV3D plugin which enables a 3D view of the game world. perhaps the better question would be if I could use only parts of the asset, classes like the database, combat, events, inventory. I hope it doesn't hurt too much when you fall off of that pedestal.ĮDIT: Plus the OP is in the RPG Maker crowd(obviously, this is a forum for RMMV). Being attracted the idea/prospect of something doesn't mean that you think it's the next coming of Christ, it just means you're interested in it. They were assuming that people in the general RPG Maker community wouldn't be interested, which is just blatantly wrong. Even one person shows that there is an audience for it. But I do speak for other people who have a similar mindset as me, as do you for people who think like you. It works both sides when you're trying to be an idiot and say one person doesn't represent anyone else. Are you saying that one person's lone opinion speaks on behalf of the entire RPG Crowd? Got a little megalomania there yourself, mate. Yes, and I have friends I've shown this two that are in the RPG Maker crowd who are also interested. Unless you really are self centered to believe your opinion speaks for everyone. Originally posted by FinalBoss:Sorry but 1 person isn't a crowd, and his point still stands. ![]() It's 3D, it's for RPGs, and has alot of the same ssytems as far as database controlling a lot of it. And in all honesty, there are just not that many 3D turn based RPGs games, so for people to keep wanting 3D, MyRPG Master in indeed the perfect solution for them. Especially depending on how many people switch out the battle system right away, or add other scripts to make it more and more deviated from it's JRPG background. You may think that's what RPG Maker is known for, but it's not entirely accurate. Originally posted by TheNathanParable:I don't think you can really consider this a "3D RPG Maker", not yet anyway. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to come with any standard graphics like RPG Maker or MyRPG Master, and admittedly the playable Demo Project doesn't really do a good job of showing off what it can do, but if you're already familiar with Unity it might be worth considering. It seems capable of making a few different types of RPG, all without coding. Now, if you want a 3D RPG Maker that is available now, and you don't mind having to make most/all of the assets yourself, you could try out the ORK Framework for Unity: Now apparently the developer of MyRPG Master is planning to add turn-based combat sometime during the Beta, which is pretty cool, but until then I don't think MyRPG Master will attract the RPG Maker crowd. ![]() These are two very different types of RPGs, so comparing the two is a little bit like comparing apples to oranges. Meanwhile, MyRPG Master seems to be for making action RPGs more in line with Morrowind or Skyrim. RPG Maker is known for making JRPGs (Japanese RPGs), a style of RPG typically categorised by it's random encounters and turn-based battle systems (think Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, or Star Ocean). I don't think you can really consider this a "3D RPG Maker", not yet anyway.
